JOB PURPOSE:
The Residential Lead Service Technician is the overall Field Manager for the residential Service Technicians and Residential Installers of Precision Garage Door. This generally covers any aspect pertaining to the service and repair of garage doors and openers in either new homes under construction or installation or replacement of these devices in existing homes.
The scope of this position includes training employees, managing the day-to-day operations of estimating, scheduling, deploying, and monitoring, of residential service and installation jobs, promoting a positive relationship with customers, tracking and reporting of group performance against objectives, interfacing to office and administrative support functions, and serving as a member of the Precision Garage Door management team.
The Residential Lead Service Technician has responsibility for the strategic planning for Residential Service Technician and Residential installation activities. The Residential Installation Manager reports to the General Manager of the company.
KEY TASKS:
Primary Job Functions:
§ Reviewing the schedule for each day’s work assignments for Residential Installers and Residential Service Technicians.
§ Manage the training of Apprentice Technicians.
§ Verify that the sales training modules are being implemented in the field with ride around evaluations of Technicians.
§ Manage daily Technician schedule issues, modification, and exceptions with the objective of ensuring technician and installer availability for customer appointments.
§ Assure the schedule developed by the office is fulfilled by the staff of installers and technicians.
§ Act a liaison between the office manager and the staff of Residential Service Technicians and Installers.
§ Act as the main contact for the Residential Service and Installers, regarding attendance issues, including coming to work late, calling off early, On-Call and the acceptance of late calls.
§ Approve any deviation of pricing from the published PDS price list.
§ To be available 8am – 7pm seven days per week to accept phone calls from the staff of Residential Service Technicians and Installers.
§ Work with the staff of Residential Service Technicians and Installers to improve the efficiency of customer bookings / scheduling.
§ Recruit and assist in the interviewing and hiring of new Technicians and Installers
Secondary Job Functions:
§ Maintaining weekly record of Service Technician evaluations.
§ Reviewing inventory and auditing process for Residential Service and Installers vehicles.
§ Reviewing truck maintenance schedule to prevent unnecessary repair cost.
§ Holding training meetings as required addressing both product and processes.
§ Reviewing overall warehouse status on a regular basis.
§ Periodically meeting with General Manager regarding office procedures and processes.
§ Attending safety meetings, as required.
§ Managing warranty process with all suppliers for defective or damaged material.
§ Reviewing management reports for business trends and associated actions.
§ Managing and arbitrate any disagreements, misunderstandings, or disciplinary actions among residential service and installation employees.
Participating in the business planning process as requested by the General Manager and management team.
